Assistant Researcher, Dr. Lu Yin, Travels to Three Universities to Present his Research

Recently Dr. Lu Yin, an Assistant Researcher at IAHS participated in scholarly activates related to Chinese Literature, Medieval Chinese History, and Modern History at three universities: Hong Kong Chinese Culture University, Nanjing University, and Huazhong Normal University. On March 8, 2014, Assistant Researcher Lu Yin participated in an international workshop for young scholars titled “Emperors, Chanyus, and Aristocrats: Medieval China and its Periphery.” The workshop was hosted by the Institute for Advance Humanities and Social Science Studies at Nanjing University, and there Dr. Lu Yin gave his paper “Lamenting the Six Dynasty: Medieval Projections in the Political Thought of Late Qing Scholar-Officials.” On May, 26-28, Dr. Lu Yin participated in an international conference titled “The Full View of the Ancient and Modern: Ancient Chinese Literary Classics and Modernity.” This conference was hosted by the Chinese Language and Literature Department of the Hong Kong Chinese Culture University. There Dr. Lu Yin presented his paper “The Grammar of Rhetoric: Advancements in the Knowledge Systems of Late Qing ‘Rhetoric’ and the Reformulation of Contemporary Textual Analysis.” July 19-20, Dr. Lu Yin participated in a conference titled “Academics and Society in the Transition to Modernity.” This event was hosted by the Institute for Modern History at Huazhong Normal University, and there Dr. Lu presented his paper “Reform and Academic Conflicts at the Late Qing Two Lakes Academy.” Furthermore, related to his overall direction of research, Dr. Lu Yin recently published two papers in Modern China (Xiandai Zhongguo) and The Journal of Chinese Literature (Zhongguo wenxue xuebao): “The Challenges of Words and the New and Old Education: The Language Side of Private School Changes Before and After the Hundred Days Reform,” Xiandai Zhonguo (Peking University Press, n.15 Aug. 2014, 66-97);“Space for Late Qing‘Grammar’—From Mashi wentong to Hanwen dian,” Zhongguo wenxue xuebao (Chinese Cultural University Press,n.4,Dec.2013,55-82).
